Books on South Asian Diaspora

A friend recently mentioned that they haven’t come across books or movies that depict the lives of South Asians in the Diaspora. Rather than listing any book that takes place outside of South Asia, I am including books or stories that depict characters and conflicts specific to the South Asian immigrant and diaspora experience and cultural gaps and differences. As always, I am only including books that I have read and liked.

  2. The Good Talk by Mira Jacob
  3. Marriage of a Thousand Lies by S.J Sindu
  4. Love, Hate, and Other Filters by Samira Ahmed
  5. You Bring the Distant Near by Mitali Perkins
  6. The Interpreter of Maladies by Jhumpa Lahiri
  7. Pashmina by Nidhi Chanani
  8. Born Confused by Tanuja Desai Hidier
  9. Erotic Stories for Punjabi Widows by Balli Kaur Jaswal
  10. Always Anjali by Sheetal Sheth
